Wycombe Abbey to open second international school in China

On August 25, Wycombe Abbey International School signed an agreement with the Government of Zhuhai, Hengqin Special Area and Silk Road Financial Holdings to open Hengqin Wycombe Abbey International School on September 1, 2019. 

The School will be located in Hengqin Special Area, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, a 15-minute drive from Macau and a 30-minute drive from Hong Kong Airport. Once completed, the School will be more than five times the size of Harrow Hong Kong and will have the largest international school facilities in the Pearl Delta area.*

WAIS Hengqin will be a co-educational boarding school offering the National Curriculum of England and Wales and will cover pre-prep through to secondary school for more than 1,000 pupils. The School is expected to open on September 1st, 2019 to mark the 20th anniversary of Macau's return to China. 

The signing of the agreement was attended by Party Secretary of Zhuhai City Mr Yuanqiang Guo, Party Secretary of Hengqin Special Area, Mr Jing Niu, Founder and CEO of BE Education Mr William Vanbergen, and Chairman of Silk Road Mr Guibing Xu.

I am sure that the students in Hengqin will flourish with the introduction of our unique boarding environment, British curriculum and Chinese language and culture courses.”

*Harrow HK is 57mu, so the full 286mu will be 5x the size of Hong Kong Harrow.
