Royal High School Bath celebrates GCSE resultsPosted on 25th Aug 2022 in School News, Exam results, GCSE
Year 11 were notable for returning from the pandemic determined to embrace opportunities and to support each other in preparation for their exams. Today, Royal High School Bath students celebrate their outstanding GCSE results that reflect their exceptional work ethic and ambition.
60% of results were grades 8 and 9 with 37% of these being grade 9s. This is an increase on last year’s results that bucks the trend of 2022’s grades coming midway between pre-pandemic and 2021. 40% of the year group was awarded only 9s and 8s which will stand them in good stead as they embark, with confidence, on their chosen A Level or International Baccalaureate (IB) subjects.
These impressive results sit alongside equally remarkable achievements last year such as Natasha David who not only received top grades but was also the inspiration and drive behind our Ukraine Charity Day that resulted in £5,956 being raised and van loads of much needed items being driven out to the country. She plans to continue this initiative as she moves to Sixth Form to study Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Psychology.
Jess Lewis, meanwhile, proved that busy students excel and learn key life skills including time management and commitment as she combined top grades with her skill and passion for netball having been selected for the TeamBath Athlete Development Centre. As an aspiring medic she has chosen the IB route in the Sixth Form along with 30% of next year’s cohort.
Mrs Kate Reynolds, Head of Royal High School Bath, said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 11s who have shown adaptability and resilience during such a challenging time, and I would like to congratulate each and every student for their outstanding results. They have embodied the importance of fearlessness and friendship particularly post pandemic and we are looking forward to seeing the great things they achieve as they move to Sixth Form. As ever, this is a team effort and I extend my gratitude to their teachers whose professionalism and support for all our students has been outstanding. We are looking forward to continuing to work with this inspirational group of girls in their A Level and IB studies.”
Royal High School Bath is the only Sixth Form in the city to offer both A Level and IB qualifications, a reflection of its international outlook that includes boarders from the UK and all across the world.
