The largest designated US Department of State Exchange Visitor Program for teachers, Participate, is recruiting teachers from England to work in schools in United States, beginning in August 2018. So far, 767 teachers from UK have participated in this global program.

British teachers will benefit of a valuable experience and professional development by teaching in US classrooms. They will have the opportunity to learn new teaching methods and be exposed to new educational technology and resources. They will also grow personally and by living in other country with a different culture. The cultural, professional and personal experience of the teachers in the US will consolidate their career if they choose to take this challenge.

By taking part in the Participate Program, British teachers have a major impact in the cognitive development of a new generation of US students, developing their ability to understand and appreciate cultural differences.

To qualify for this program, candidates must have at least 2 years of full-time teaching experience, be fluent in English and have a driver’s license. There is also a minimum commitment to teach for at least two years in the US. The available positions are in primary and secondary schools in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Jeff Seaby, International Recruitment Manager, says: “Participate program is a valuable experience for the teachers, students and their US colleagues. Teachers have the opportunity to integrate new communities and schools where they will develop both professionally and personally. In addition, the schools, students and other educators also learn new things from the visiting teachers.” According to Jeff, they engage in the communities in which they live, seek to improve the lives of their students and their families, grow personally and professionally during the experience and then return to their home country so that others can benefit from their experiences and new knowledge.

"Throughout the years, we have grown our focus in educator development through our global and dual language programs, collaborative professional learning platform and cultural exchange teacher program. More than 10,000 teachers from 84 countries have participated in the program throughout the last 30 years," added Jeff.

The program offers a full competitive salary, vacation and holidays the same as American colleagues. Moreover, the recruited teachers benefit of life insurance, international assessments and recommendations, airfare to the US for the teachers and support in obtaining the visa both the teacher and their family, where necessary.

Participate invites all interested elementary primary, and secondary school math and science teachers from England to apply via go.participate.com/teach2a17 as soon as possible. The deadline for applications is March 5th, 2018.

Applicants who pass the initial screening will be interviewed in person in London in March 2018. For more information, you can contact Selection Department at info@participate.com or www.participate.com
