Outstanding academic results at La Côte International School

Posted on 20th Sep 2017 in School News

La Côte International School is delighted to share its ISA and Key Stage 1 and 2 test results, which show a consistent year-on-year growth in academic performance at Primary level.

The school's MYP 3 students have sat the International School Assessment (ISA) tests for the first time this year and have set themselves well above similar schools and all other international schools who complete the same tests around the world.

The International Schools’ Assessment (ISA) tests are based on the internationally endorsed reading, mathematical literacy and scientific literacy frameworks of the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

Key Stage 1 tests are carried out by the child's teacher within their everyday classroom practice and evaluate ability in reading, writing, spelling, handwriting, maths (number, shape, space and measurement) and science.

Key Stage 2 tests are more formal, they are taken on set days and exam papers are sent away to be marked externally. The Key Stage 2 tests cover the three core subjects: English, Maths and Science.

International Schools’ Assessment (ISA) tests

The International Schools’ Assessment tests (ISA) enable La Côte International School to track individual student progress in our Primary Years 4, 5 and 6 in Mathematical Literacy, Reading and Writing.

Designed specifically for students in Grades 3–10 attending international schools and schools with an international focus where the language of instruction is English, the ISA assessments are designed with the knowledge that more than half of the test takers have first languages other than English.

In 2016-2017, over 76,000 students from 355 schools across nearly 80 countries participated in ISA.

As well as drawing on many cultural and national sources, the test material is varied and it includes open-ended questions that allow an insight into the students’ thinking process.

Thanks to the ISA test results, we are able to track individual student progress in our Primary Years 4, 5 and 6 in Mathematical Literacy, Reading and Writing as well as compare our performance with other similar schools and all other international schools who complete the same tests, around the world.

MYP3 ISA Tests

For the first time this academic year, La Côte International School MYP3 students have sat the ISA tests covering the following core subjects: maths, reading, narrative writing, exposition writing and scientific literacy.

We are delighted to report that LCIS students performed well above the average of similar schools and all other international schools around the world who took the same exams at MYP3 level.

Key Stage 1 and 2 test results

The English national curriculum tests (commonly called SATs) results offer an opportunity to compare pupils to make sure schools are helping them to master the basics in English and mathematics, and make progress.

International Baccalaureate Diploma results

These results follow the publication of International Baccalaureate Diploma results, which showed the average score of the graduating class of 2017 was 32.3, significantly above the 2017 global average of 29.95.

This is the third year running that La Côte International School has achieved a 100% pass rate in its International Baccalaureate Diploma results, compared to the world IB pass rate of 79%.

On behalf of the entire school community, La Côte International School's Principal Ms Wendy Ellis is delighted to announce the 2017 IB Diploma results of our third cohort of graduating students.

14% of students achieved 40 points or more, a result shared only by the top 9% of the world's IB Diploma students. This is the level of attainment required to gain admission to the world's elite universities such as Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard.

For the third year running IB Diploma students achieved a 100% pass rate, an exceptional achievement compared to the world IB pass rate of 79%.
