Sevenoaks is one of the leading schools in the UK, providing an outstanding modern education. All 450+ students in the sixth form study the IB Diploma Programme, which the school has taught since 1978. The leafy 100-acre campus is in the Kent countryside, just half an hour from Central London and Gatwick Airport. International students make up around 20 per cent of the student body and the school provides pupils with a balanced and intellectually stimulating education while promoting global understanding. Curriculum

A wide range of subjects is offered at GCSE and IGCSE. In the sixth form all pupils study the IB Diploma Programme. Academic results are outstanding. In 2022, the average IB Diploma score was 40.3 points, eight points above the world average. Fifteen students achieved the maximum 45 points. Virtually every student goes on to one of the world's best universities, with around 80 per cent taking places at leading UK universities, and 21 per cent accepting places at top US, Canadian, European and international universities.

A wide range of sport is offered, and pupils achieve honours in cross country, rugby, football, hockey, netball, cricket, athletics, sailing, shooting, swimming and tennis. There is a strong emphasis on music, drama and art, with chamber music a particular strength. The school is proud of its strong tradition of community service and DofE Award participation.

Facilities

Facilities are first class. Recent developments include a striking, state-of-the-art boarding house, an award-winning performing arts centre, a Science & Technology Centre uniting the four core fields of science, and an innovative Sixth Form centre. There are seven boarding houses, including five houses (13-18), and two sixth form houses (16-18). A new girls' boarding house is opening in September 2023.

Entrance

Year 7 (11+): entrance examination, school reference and interview.

Year 9 (13+): pre-assessment, entrance examination or Common Entrance or scholarship examination, plus school reference and interview.

Sixth form (16+): entrance examination, personal statement and interview.

Up to 50 scholarships are awarded annually at 11, 13 and 16, for academic excellence, music, sport, art and drama, and means-tested bursaries are available.
