Located on the seashore and adjacent to the Punta Entinas Natural Park, in Almería, SEK International School Alborán is regarded as a high quality international school in Andalusia. It is the only school in Almeria that offers three IB International Baccalaureate Programmes, from 3 to 18 years of age (Primary Years Programme Middle Years Programme - MYP and the Diploma Programme, either bilingually in English and Spanish or fully in English). These programmes are coordinated closely with the Spanish education system. We are also candidate for accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

For the SEK Education Group, to which SEK-Alborán belongs, physical fitness and respecting one's health are an essential element of the learning process. SEK-Alborán has extensive recreational areas, and 28,000m2 of outdoor spaces, as well as extensive sports facilities and a heated indoor pool. Its classrooms are equipped with cutting-edge technology (makerspace, video recording and editing spaces, radio, 3D printer, robotic tables, TED ED Club). It is considered a model of educational innovation in Andalusia.

Social and emotional learning programmes are of particular importance in students’ curricula to foster the social and personal awareness. In the Intelligent Classroom, each student progresses according to their potential, working in teams and having individual efforts rewarded. Teachers and tutors are afforded an open space for dialogue with students and parents both in-person and online. Students can take advantage of the Flipped Classroom to work on content and tackle issues from a broad perspective, solving doubts with their teachers, and learning by doing. The HYFLEX system has been implemented due to the covid and online learning has become part of the daily life of students.

SEK-Alborán offers a bilingual Spanish-English education that is incorporated progressively over all educational stages (50% of the subjects are taught in English). It is the only school in Almeria authorized by Cambridge English Exams, Alliance Française and Goethe Institut in Almería. It also has an extensive program of exchanges and participations in United Nations Models.

In all SEK International Schools we are able to offer a quality online learning model in which students are able to continue their learning if necessary, with synchronous and asynchronous classes, and with personalized monitoring by teachers and tutors, which has proved successful with students and families.
