Munich International School (MIS) is a community school where 1200 students from 65 nationalities learn together on a single, purpose-built campus. It was the first international school to be established in Munich (1966). MIS is officially recognised by the Bavarian ministry of education and fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

The School nurtures, challenges and inspires students to become academically successful, life-long learners, creative and innovative thinkers, ethical, globally-minded contributors and healthy, well-balanced individuals who will thrive and make a positive impact in a complex and changing world.

Academic Excellence

In 2022, the average diploma total was 37 points (comparable to a 1.8 Abiturnote), a leading score among international schools in Germany. All candidates achieved a full IB Diploma (100 percent success rate; World average = 85.6 percent).

Students routinely gain admission to the world's elite universities such as Stanford University, Imperial College London, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) including German universities such as the Technical University of Munich (TUM), to name just a few. Our excellent academic programmes are embedded, however, in a holistic, values-based curriculum that provides support and appropriate challenge for every child.

Unparalleled Campus

Easily accessible from Munich, the School takes full advantage of its 55-acre campus in an idyllic nature preserve near Starnberg to provide students with high-quality educational experiences both within well-equipped classrooms, laboratories and performing arts spaces and exceptional outdoor facilities.

In 2022, the school added a 2.080 sqm quadruple gymnasium with a dance - and a fitness studio including grandstands for approx. 800 spectators to its campus. In 2024, the Learning NeXus is scheduled to be built as a cutting-edge library and innovation center. It will provide flexible learning, research and collaboration spaces, offering a unique environment for educational and innovative pursuits.

The School offers a wide range of After School Activities and sports as well as a comprehensive competitive Athletics programme. We recruit the most caring, competent and committed teachers and staff from more than two dozen countries. These educators create a vibrant, diverse, student-centred learning programme, supported by superior facilities and resources.
