Lycée Edward Steichen (LESC) opened in September 2018 and as one of the new international Accredited European Schools in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg it gives students the option to follow the European curriculum or the Luxembourg national curriculum. LESC is a co-educational non-selective day school for students aged 4-19 with currently about 1000 students on roll which will be expanding to about 1700 students in total in the next few years.

Both the secondary and the primary school are located in Clervaux in the beautiful North of the Luxembourg Ardennes. We are easily accessible via public transport. Our primary school is located on a local primary school campus that is shared with a Luxembourg primary school. At primary school level, we follow the European Schools Curriculum. We offer an anglophone, a francophone and a German-speaking European section, which caters for all students from the age of 5 to the age of 11/12. In all sections, the curriculum is taught by experienced native speaker teachers of English, French or German.

As an international school operating in the heart of one of the world's most multilingual countries, the school teaches Luxemburgish (mother tongue and beginners) as well as German, French or English as an additional language from age 4.

At secondary school level, we currently have three European school strands (anglophone, francophone and German-speaking). In the German-speaking and the francophone strand, English is taught as a first foreign language. In the anglophone strand, English is taught by experienced native speakers and French or German as a first foreign language. In addition, we also include the traditional Luxemburg school strands within our institution ('section classique' and 'section générale') in order to give students the best possible choices for their education. We offer curricula that lead either to the European baccalaureate qualification or the equivalent Luxemburg national qualifications.

As an international school located in a multilingual region of Europe, we welcome about 20 different nationalities at our school. In order to help students to integrate in the region, we offer Luxemburgish lessons to all our non-Luxemburg students. All teaching staff are fully qualified and must have at least 5 years' professional experience. In addition, we support each student according to their individual needs via a one to one coaching programme, regular Pastoral-Social-Health Education sessions and an extracurricular programme of activities ranging from sports clubs, outdoor activities to the school choir, the school’s own pop academy and voluntary work with local services.

As an international European school, our mission is to educate the whole child and to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century. We aim to develop learners who become critical thinkers and well-rounded and educated students. For these reasons, in addition to offering traditional academic subjects, we also believe that the arts should play a major role in the life of the school; music, drama and dance are developed during lessons and via extracurricular activities such as our pop academy.

The school has excellent facilities including a state-of-the-art design & technology workshop, Food & Nutrition workshops, purpose designed science, music and art classrooms and networked IT suites. At primary and secondary school, all students are supported in their learning via the use of iPads. Specialist rooms and facilities include science laboratories, art studios and modern languages and humanities classrooms, two fully equipped sports halls and a swimming pool plus a self-service restaurant and cafeteria.

A wide range of sports is offered, including football, climbing, swimming, gymnastics, athletics and basketball and the school participates successfully in sporting events. Extra-curricular activities are an integral part of the school day - we offer additional activities in sport, music and drama with opportunities for overseas travel and school trips and exchanges with national and international partner schools.

As our school continues to expand, we will continue to expand our school offer, but we will remain focused on providing all children with the best possible education in an ever-changing world.
