Institut Le Châtelard is an international boarding school dedicated to the integral formation of young women from around the world. It is located in one of the most beautiful and peaceful areas in Switzerland, in a safe and secure environment.

Our philosophy of education is rooted in the living Catholic tradition of academic excellence, personal integrity, high moral standards and a sense of service to others. It offers every student the key to her personal happiness and fulfilment, and enables her to be successful in her personal and professional goals. This mission is sought out through the development of talents in every aspect of the human person. Our academic program is designed so that each student can live a unique once in a lifetime educational experience.

Academic Program

Institut Le Châtelard is committed to a high quality education, with French as the language of instruction. Our curriculum focuses on individual attention of every student needs. Throughout the year our Junior High School and High School students have the advantage of learning culinary courses from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. They also benefit from a Savoir Vivre course every week and do social work with the elderly, the sick and the underprivileged. Institut Le Châtelard promotes Technology, Sports and the Arts.

Our team is made up of passionate educators and people with values who come from around the world, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge, experience and inspiration.

Encountering and interacting with other cultures is one of our objectives. That is why our Junior High School and High School students have the opportunity to participate in several trips during the year, such as Israel, France, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary among other European countries. A dynamic and professional team of helpful staff is always accompanying them on their trips.

Accreditation

Le Châtelard's academic program is designed to prepare students to take the official DELF (Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française) exams as well as the Cambridge English test, commonly known as "First Certificate". Cordon Bleu is honored to deliver an exclusive course covering the basic principles of traditional French cooking. Le Châtelard Institute is accredited by Cognia's Certificate of Accreditation and a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS). Meeting and exceeding those standards results in a valuable recognition of excellence.

Our School

Institut Le Châtelard was built as an elegant Belle Époque style hotel in the late 1800's. The house was equipped with modern facilities in 1992 and renovated in the past five years to offer excellent boarding facilities where tradition and innovation meet. Our bedrooms lodge 3 to 4 students and have full en-suite bathrooms and balcony. There are several living rooms, a cafeteria, a games room, dining rooms, a theatre and a chapel. We also have well-lit classrooms, a library and a study hall. There are also painting and ceramics workshops together with a Cordon Bleu kitchen classroom. Fitness, spinning and sport facilities are located in the garden flat of the building. Each student is provided with a personal iPad for their classes.
