Situated on a leafy campus in Bishop's Stortford, 10 minutes from London Stansted Airport, Hockerill is a leading UK school which features in the Sunday Times Guide 2023, the Good Schools Guide. It is a strong, caring community of 900 boys and girls (400 boarders and 500 day students) aged between 11 and 18. All six boarding houses are located within the campus.

Student outcomes are exceptional with results and university destinations comparing favourably to those of top independent schools. 75% of those attending UK universities go on to Russell Group destinations, with 6% taking up an Oxbridge place in 2022. The Sunday Times placed Hockerill third of all comprehensives, based on academic achievement, in its 2023 guide to the best schools in the country.

The College offers a rigorous and broad curriculum and is proud to be one of the largest state schools offering the prestigious International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma programmes with consistently outstanding results. Hockerill has a special focus on languages and music with both French/English and German/English bilingual sections.

The main intake years are at ages 11 and 16. The Lower College curriculum is based on the IB Middle Years programme offering a wide range of subjects with students taking their GCSEs before moving on.

The College has a strong extra-curricular provision which includes Sports, Music Ensembles and Choirs, BMX, CCF, Young Enterprise, Duke of Edinburgh, Debating, Model United Nations, Amnesty and Charity fundraising. There are some 100 clubs on offer.

The trips and exchanges programme runs throughout the College and encompasses destinations such as Uganda, India, Japan, China, Spain, France, Croatia, Belgium, Austria, Germany and Italy.

Many events take place during the year for students including formal dinners, concerts, Prize Giving, Boarders weekend (for students and their families). As part of the regular communication, there is a termly forum for boarding parents.
