Located in the heart of Bordeaux, our school offers a stimulating and inclusive environment for students from all backgrounds. BIS has over 35 years experience in helping students achieve their potential by combining a bilingual education and an international learning environment. We value diversity and celebrating different cultures and by retaining a maximum class size of 16, students flourish in a multicultural setting of over 25 different nationalities.

BIS is the only institution in the region that is accredited as a 'school of excellence' by the Council of International Schools. Our unique approach to teaching and learning is based on a comprehensive and inclusive bilingual curriculum. Early Learning and Primary, under contract with the French Education Nationale, enables students to follow a fully bilingual programme. Our Middle School follows both the Education Nationale and the Cambridge International Lower Secondary programme. In Upper Secondary, we offer internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels.

Our mission to encourage proactive, responsible global citizens means that we pay particular attention to support in academic study. Our experienced, multi-national teaching team provides active and differentiated learning where students work in a stimulating environment, regularly challenging themselves. Qualifications are internationally recognised and graduating students gain places at universities around the world.

We also value our school community and its qualities of understanding and respect for others. Activities such as international theme weeks, school shows, the International award and clubs including Chinese, chess and music band are organised to promote inclusiveness and creativity. Regular cultural visits and additional sports activities take place at local sites. Boarding with a French host family can provide support and an invaluable cultural experience.

Our students are encouraged to engage in a sustainable lifestyle, to develop a critical understanding of world issues and be inspired to become interculturally competent global citizens.
