Established in 1947, the American Overseas School of Rome has a tradition of providing a rigorous and well-rounded American international education to Pre-K through Grade 12 students in a supportive environment. AOSR inspires a diverse student body to courageously meet the demands of a changing world through an engaging and creative curriculum. AOSR is committed to educating the whole child and encourages students to develop their skills as scholars, artists, and athletes.

AOSR is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and was the first international school to be awarded MSA's prestigious International Credential, and is a member of RISA, CIS, and ECIS. AOSR is the only school in Rome to offer an extensive IB International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the AP Advanced Placement Program and was the first school in Italy to offer the Advanced Placement Program.

AOSR is truly an American international community and prides itself on its diverse student body that is made up of 575 students. One-third of students come from the United States, one third from Italy, and one third from 51 other countries. The perfect student-teacher ratio of approximately 12:1 allows for every AOSR student to be noticed and nurtured while engaging in a broad range of educational experiences. The global faculty is made up of 85 experienced educators who have taught at top international schools in over 50 countries. 75% of our teachers are native English speakers, and 75% hold advanced degrees.

Students benefit from a 6-acre campus with the most complete facilities of any international school in Rome. This includes a historic villa, an indoor performing arts space, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, a soccer field, an indoor gymnasium, brand new Design/Maker's Space and Technology Labs, a spacious cafeteria and outdoor covered dining space, an outdoor edible garden, and a Roman amphitheater. The AOSR campus provides the perfect space for students to engage in athletic and after-school activities programs or participate in clubs and organizations.

The diverse selection of challenging coursework, flexible academic pathways, personal attention in small classes, and commitment to athletics, technology, performing arts, and other extracurricular activities, provide a perfect platform for AOSR students to thrive now and in the future.
