About HKA’s Pre-Kindergarten Programme

HKA’s Pre-Kindergarten programme is for children aged 3-5 years. Students enjoy a 4.5 hour per day programme (8am - 12.30pm) and can also opt to enrol in an after school activity each day.

Classes are limited to 18 students per class. With two fully-qualified teachers present in the classroom throughout the day every child is known as an individual and instruction is differentiated for each student during this period of rapid development.

The two teachers co-teach every home room lesson together with one teaching in English and the other teaching in Mandarin thereby exposing the students to a dual-language environment which accelerates the development of their comprehension and the confidence to express themselves in both languages. Qualified specialist teachers deliver Art, PE, Music and Library instruction twice weekly and the Primary School counsellor teaches a weekly wellbeing class to build the students socio-emotional, collaboration and communication skills.

HKA’s indoor and outdoor learning spaces provide areas for students to explore, play and problem-solve. Flexible classrooms include common spaces for shared learning as well as a number of small group areas that offer opportunities for students to create and imagine. Outdoor playscapes engage students physically and socially, offering a safe and stimulating environment for students to challenge themselves through movement, play and collaboration. An organic garden invites students to observe and care for plants and insect life, developing relationships with the natural world.
